Benjamin Franklin

"I have always thought that one man of tolerable abilities may work great changes, and accomplish great affairs among mankind, if he first forms a good plan, and cutting off all amusements, or other employments that would divert his attention, makes the execution of that same plan his sole study and business".

I don't think there is a word wasted there...

I esteem how purpose driven you are, MJ. I believe that your strong will to make this world better for others is remarkable and I have absolute faith that your impact will be profoundly felt. However, I tend to believe that distractions are important to embrace and do not necessarily need to pull you away from your purpose. Sometimes the focus on a particular purpose can be so strong that it cuts a person off from life in many ways. And I am very much of the belief that we can be better for this world if we fully participate in it. Of course, I do not mean that we should allow ourselves to be consumed with trivial amusements and distractions.
