Major decisions being made.
I am surrounded by negativity in England. Little Birtain focusses so completely on what can't be done it is a wonder anything was ever accomplished - anywhere. I mean - we destroyed the Spanish armada, won two world wars, had the world's biggest empire for god's sake.
But - that is all in the past. I have concluded the Little Britain today is a travesty of a nation - a collection of lilly livered politicians, unbearable chavs, hopelssly negative matrix-dwelling middle classers, non-sensical upper class egits, peppered with a new class of ridiculous billionaires taking over the capital. American billionaires are so much better than ours. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are leading the charge to give away their billions to people who truly need it - a finer example of the global shift from individual to collective responsibility I have never seen.
So - once the flat sale goes through (i can hear you sniggering), I am going to get the hell out of here for a while. And I have now had 5 majorly synchronisitic pointers towards the Americas.
But where to land? Where to start my invasion?
New York? Too distracting.
LA? Too fake.
Miami? Too much of all the above.
San Francisco? Hmmmmm.
It's the current favourite. Huge literary scene. Successful. Healthy. Not as expensive as NYC.
BUT... late entry - Toronto.
Apparently there is big writing stuff going on up there...
But Canada?...
I am looking for a sign. It will come from stillness.
San Fancisco did.
Any suggestions?

san francisco is a great city. it has been awhile since i've been down there but it has a lot to offer. on the downside, it is pretty expensive to live there from what i know.
seattle is another great artistic city...lots of creative people, laid back. so is portland...also a great city with a lot to offer. the literary scene is not going to be anything like NYC obviously but there is an intimacy about it that is alluring. (yes, i live in portland, and yes i am slightly biased...although i love NYC and the thought of living in other cities as well).
downside to seattle or portland? it does rain, but if you are literary and enjoy coffee shops and the indoors enough on rainy days, it is inspiring for a writer. plus, the summers and early autumn are so gorgeous out here because of all that rain.
good luck with your choice. i think it will be a great experience for you.
Seattle. The most beautiful American city after San Francisco, not as expensive (although pretty pricey,) a booming high-tech scene in case you can't make it as a writer...
If you can't afford Seattle: Portland, Oregon. Not quite as pretty but a lot is happening.
BTW France is looking to Britain as a model of "can-do" attitude! I guess the French just can't bear to see that in the USA...
I hadn't read the previous comment about Seattle and Portland either!
Your manifestation is working! I am so excited, a friend just gave me a copy of the secret movie..i had not seen that yet and boy do i ever need to see it right now!
I will watch it with my kids later tonight!
I am from the Toronto area. Although, it's a great place, I say, choose San Francisco. Probably more opportunities there. That's where I'd like to go too ^_^
look how good the secret works!! You have an illustrator for your book! How great is that!
